Thursday, October 21, 1993 ON A GRAY and bleary-eyed day (the morning after a 15-14 ball game isn't a good time to expect sparkling enthusiasm), there are things to do at Waterloo. A classicist visiting from Victoria will talk about the Battle of Marathon this afternoon (3:30, Davis Centre 1302) and it's John Belushi Film Night at the Graduate House (from 7:00). PLANNERS GATHER: Meeting here today and tomorrow is the high-powered Pragma Council, a group of government and private-sector planning professionals, many of them UW alumni. They assemble to discuss major issues in the planning field and to advise UW's school of urban and regional planning. The theme of this week's Pragma meeting seems quite appropriate for the weekend before an election: "Government in Crisis: Looking to the Future". BONDS FOR SALE: Tomorrow's the deadline for purchase of 1993 Canada Savings Bonds through the payroll savings plan, a method by which hundreds of UW staff and faculty help build up their assets. The payroll office has forms to authorize payroll deductions starting in November. I'LL BE AWAY for the next couple of days. One of my colleagues in Information and Public Affairs will prepare tomorrow's Daily Bulletin. Chris Redmond Information and Public Affairs credmond@watserv1 ext. 3004
