Friday, October 29, 1993 BIG DAY IN CO-OP: Students in most co-op programs will be busy today. It's the last official day of employer interviews, and students are to pick up their job ranking forms this morning, then return them by 4:30 with a preference ranking of all the jobs they're being considered for. "It's a really crazy day around here," says a harried voice from the co-op departament on the first floor of Needles Hall. LAST DAY AT WORK: Retiring October 31 are two well-known and long-time UW staff members. Rienzi Crusz has been a librarian in the reference department of the Dana Porter Library since 1967; he's also a prominent poet, writing originally out of his experience of coming to Canada from Sri Lanka. Library colleagues will fete him at a "break" this morning in the Dana Porter staff lounge. Jim Moir retires as a technician in the school of optometry, a job he's held since 1970. "When our graduates come back to visit, the first person they go to see is Jim Moir," says Marg Kerr-Lawson of the optometry school office. Moir will be the guest of honour at a dinner tonight at the Westmount Golf and Country Club. MAN WAS ROBBED: UW police report an armed robbery in parking lot B early on Wednesday evening. A man was walking to his car when two other men approached him; one of them held a knife to his stomach and demanded money. The victim handed over his wallet. A Waterloo Regional Police investigator describes the two wanted men: "Vietnamese, about five feet, five inches tall and both weighed about 120 pounds". THIS WEEKEND: The UW singles group is going bowling tonight (last-minute information: 725-2068). St. Paul's College holds its Founders' Day service on Sunday afternoon (3 p.m., Forest Hill United Church), with a dinner to follow at the college. Everyone's welcome at a children's Hallowe'en party at St. Paul's from 6 to 8 p.m., also on Sunday. Chris Redmond Information and Public Affairs credmond@watserv1 ext. 3004
