Daily Bulletin, Tuesday, December 20, 1994 EXAMINATIONS for the fall term end tomorrow, and things will really be slow on campus for the rest of the week. Today's the last night for extended hours in UW's libraries, and hours will be further reduced in the last days of this week, as follows: Tuesday: Dana Porter open to midnight, Davis Centre to 1 a.m., with circulation service to 10:45 p.m. Wednesday: Dana Porter open to 11 p.m., Davis Centre to midnight, with circulation service to 10:45. Thursday and Friday: Both libraries open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., with circulation service 8:30 to 4:45. The libraries will be entirely closed December 23 through January 2. FEDERATION HALL is closed for the season now -- except that a big New Year's Eve party is planned. Tickets are $25 for dinner and dancing, $7 just for the dancing, and can be reserved at ext. 4042 or 4090, says hall manager Chuck McMullan. Fed Hall reopens January 2. ST. JEROME'S COLLEGE holds its "annual informal Christmas reception and dinner" tonight -- one of the big social events of the year for people at the church colleges, and for invited guests from the university. And the word has gone out, not unexpectedly, at St. Jerome's that there will be an extra day of Christmas vacation: president Doug Letson has approved this Friday as a day off for the college's faculty and staff. NOTED ON CAMPUS: Dismantling of the construction fence around the Campus Centre site was continuing yesterday. Farewell to that splendid rendition of the "Macbeth" poster on one panel of the fence; farewell to the brontosaurus painted by the Waterloo Christian Fellowship, with a quotation from Job 40:15; farewell to the Sigma Chi boosterism and the critical responses to it. It's been a fine site for outdoor art. Helen Kilbride, the retired staff member who headed UW's United Way campaign this year, has been honoured by United Way of Kitchener-Waterloo and Area with its "Joe Williams Memorial Award" for campaign volunteer achievement. The on-campus campaign fell slightly short of its ambitious $150,000 goal, and across K-W the campaign was also a little short of the goal, $4.1 million, but it did raise $4,010,504 for 54 service and charitable agencies. Finally, birthday greetings to Betty Martin of graphic services, and to Manfred Richter of the Germanic and Slavic department.
