Dons gear up for the new term

Residence dons for the upcoming year made their way to Village II yesterday and will be there until Friday. This is a week of orientation for these upper year students who will be called on to guide, restrain and sympathize with newer students at UW.

While some come, others go

The fall work term begins today for co-op students. Placement figures are very encouraging this term, says Olaf Naese of co-op education and career services. Ninety students have not yet found work, which means that 97 per cent of students who sought work terms have found positions.

"We're really quite pleased with these results," says Naese, who explains that the fall term is usually the most successful period for securing work term placements. "Companies find that summer projects run well into the fall, so they need people to continue those projects."

Paving stones have begun to be laid on the walkway between the biology and ESC buildings. The old walkway was deemed to be unsafe, thus its removal.

Construction should be complete by the beginning of term.
