Winter winds are back

This morning's headlines:

Co-op job match bombs

The results of the matching process for co-op students and spring term jobs were supposed to be ready today. Bad news from Olaf Naese in the co-op education department:
Due to a problem, the computer run which matches students and employers, produced incorrect results. The problem has been identified and all efforts are being made to re-run the match. Unfortunately this means that there may be delays in scheduled co-op events.

Co-op Education will post announcements on the Co-op bulletin boards at 1:00 p.m. to update students on the situation and indicate any meeting postponements. Thank you for your patience and we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you.

To make the sun shine

Actually the official forecast is for clearing skies, but cold temperatures tomorrow. Never mind: enthusiasts at UW are preparing to "Make the Sun Shine In" with summer shirts, lawn-chairs, orange juice and beach music.

Montse Sanzsole writes from the Sports Shop and bookstore: "All the store have special promotion items; the window displays will feature beach and fun in the sun themes. As customers do their shopping, they will be able to listen to the tunes of summer, to bring back all the warm memories. Staff at the stores will be dressed in summer beach clothes, which may include straw hats, zinc and maybe even water wings."

Elsewhere on campus: a potluck lunch in the athletics department, a "tacky tourist" theme in health services, and the Inaugural Annual CSC Leap Year Barbeque sponsored by the Computer Science Club. (Shouldn't that be "barbecue", with a C?)

Two committees will meet

And a few final notes

Third-floor rooms in Chemistry 2 will lose such utilities as steam, nitrogen, natural gas, cooling and deionized water tomorrow from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. as renovations continue in room 376.

Montreal poet Bruce Whiteman reads today at St. Jerome's College -- room 221, 3:30 p.m.

The Arriscraft Lectures in the school of architecture continue, tonight with Danish architect Bente Lange speaking (8 p.m., Environmental Studies II room 286).
