Bonus: Four stories from Penn State

There just happens to have been lots of news lately from the Pennsylvania State University. Here are four stories that might be of interest but will never find room in the Daily Bulletin.

Ice cream over the web

Craving the taste of Peachy Paterno, Keeney Beany or other University Creamery ice cream flavors? Now it's just a mouse click away. Thanks to the Penn State Alumni Association's newly-expanded online store, fans of Creamery ice cream can purchase some without leaving home. More . . .

Colleges fight binge drinking

A national campaign aimed at raising public awareness of the dangers of high-risk and binge drinking by young people is being launched by the National Association of State Universities and Land-Grant Colleges (NASULGC), 113 member institutions, and the Kellogg Commission on the Future of State and Land-Grant Universities.

Full-page advertisements will appear in dozens of newspapers around the country starting September 10. More . . .

"After talking about lifelong learning for many years, the higher education community finally has the technological tools to create a true learning society," says Penn State President Graham B. Spanier. He is chair of the Kellogg Commission on the Future of State and Land-Grant Universities, which prepared an open letter and report, "Returning to our Roots: A Learning Society," to the nation's state and land-grant universities.
