Corporate Challenge needs gamers

The UW Corporate Challenge team is looking for faculty and staff who are up for some fun, games and fairly light physical activity. The team will represent UW in this year's edition of the annual Chamber Corporate Challenge being held this year at Kinsmen Sports Complex in Cambridge (just off Hwy 401).

It's an annual event, hosted by the local Chamber of Commerce (K-W, Cambridge and Elmira) in which local businesses and industries send 10-member teams to compete in a slew of games. Money is also raised for charity. Nancy Elash, of the community relations office which organizes UW's participation, says most of the activities involve a relay effort by team members in which they are pitted against a clock in trying to complete a game or task (team skipping, team pictionary, wheelchair obstacle race, etc.).

Team members will get a uniform consisting of T-shirt and shorts, plus a lunch and refreshments will be provided.

Elash says it's a fun day that's all for a good community cause. You get to meet people from across campus (the team must be a cross-section of staff, students and faculty members, equal number of men and women, in three age groups ranging from 20 to over 40) plus other competitors from the community. If you're interested in joining, call Nancy at ext. 2220.

Fed VP resigns

In case you missed it, Federation of Students vice-president (administration and finance) Mark Ferrier, resigned his post effective last Friday. Ferrier's job entails directing and watching over Fed spending, including the operation of businesses such as the Bombshelter and Variety and Post. Ferrier told Imprint he was resigning to take job with a marketing company that had pursued him for some time. "It was the toughest decision of my life," said Ferrier, who won the post in the last student elections earlier this year, along with Fed president Mario Bellabarba, vice-president (internal) Julie Primeau and vice-president (education) Kelly Foley. There will be a by-election called to fill the job, and that will likely happen by the end of October.

Staff Association has moved

The Staff Association office has officially moved from the GSC to the Davis Centre, Room 3603 as of today. The phone extension remains the same: 3566.
